The Golf Academy at The Houstonian Golf & Country Club provides the ultimate golf learning experience combining personalized instruction with computerized diagnostic equipment for swing analysis. The state-of-the-art teaching facility features two indoor practice bays and private outdoor instruction tee with access to the driving range, one-acre short game area and two practice greens. The Golf Academy, which opened in 2001 as The Dick Harmon School of Golf, was originally designed for and by the late Dick Harmon, one of America’s top teaching professionals and golf legends.
Charlie Epps Director of The Golf Academy Charlie Epps has been a highly regarded PGA Golf Professional in the Houston area for over 25 years, previously serving as Head Golf Professional at Houston Country Club and Pine Forest Country Club. He was the host of “The Golf Doctor Hour” on KTRH 740 AM for over 16 years, is a member of the Golf Digest teaching faculty, and was instrumental in developing the nationally renowned Nicklaus/Flick Golf Schools. Epps most recently had been responsible for the tournament, corporate and special golf event marketing at Redstone Golf Management and as Director of The Golf Academy. Many have come to know Charlie for his most recent accolade as the putting instructor of Angel Cabrera, 2009 Masters Champion. Charlie can be heard every Thursday morning on Sports Radio 610 AM along with Billy Harmon as they host the 'Golf Hour’.
Arthur J. Scarbrough Director of Instruction, The Golf Academy Arthur Scarbrough is a native Houstonian and a graduate of the University of Houston. He is a PGA Golf Professional who began his golf career at River Oaks Country Club as Assistant Golf Professional prior to moving with Dick Harmon to The Dick Harmon School of Golf as Teaching Professional upon its opening in 2001. Arthur maintains the teaching philosophy of his mentor, Dick Harmon, who he worked closely with for almost twenty years. Art teaches players of all levels including the area's top juniors, amateurs and tour professionals.
